About Ashley Hall

Ashley Hall was born on 3rd November 1983 in Melbourne, Australia and from a very early age showed a keen interest in golf.  His parents, Geoff and Carol Hall, fondly recall memories of Ash improvising by using a wooden spoon as a golf club at around 2 years old.

By the age of 4 Ash played his first round of golf and by 10 he was a junior member at a local golf club, Berwick Montuna, in Melbourne’s outer suburbs.  By 16 he had won their Club Championship.  It was at this stage that Ash knew that he wanted to be a professional golfer and played golf at every available opportunity. At 15 years old he wrote letters to every golf club in Melbourne’s prestigious sandbelt region asking to be considered for junior membership.  At long last one club responded in his favour; he was granted membership at Melbourne’s affluent Huntingdale Golf Club and then went on to win the Club Championship 3 times. It was at around this time that Ash started seeing his still current coach and the then Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) coach Denis McDade, who also boasts students such as Marc Leishman, Marcus Fraser, Paul Sheehan and Matt Griffin. Ash went on to attain a scholarship with the world renowned VIS at the age of 20 and it was here that his impressive amateur career really took off with some significant results.  He was on the Victorian State Team and Australian National Squad and had some international success winning the 2005 Tennant Cup in Glasgow, Scotland and in 2006 made the semi finals of the North and South Amateur at Pinehurst and the Canadian Amateur. The 2006 Australian Open at Royal Sydney Golf Club was Ash’s debut tournament in the professional ranks and it proved a successful debut with a tied 24th finish.  From here Ash went on to win Australian Q School and finish 9th at Asian Q school in December that same year. From 2007 to 2012 Ash split his time between the Australian, Asian and OneAsia tours with some impressive results.  He came from 9 shots behind on the final day of the 2007 NAB Victorian PGA Championship to claim his first professional 4 round title and then followed this up 2 years later with a win at his home state’s other championship, the 2009 Subaru Victorian Open.  His best results in Asia have been tied 5th at the Asian Tour’s 2007 Mercuries Taiwan Masters, and tied 3rd at OneAsia’s European Tour co-sanctioned event, the Volvo China Open. 2012 proved an exciting year with Ash playing his first major, The Open Championship. He also became a member of the US PGA TOUR by securing web.com status through 2 stages of qualifying school. This allows Ash to play a full schedule of events in 2013 for the first time in his career. When he is not playing golf, Ash loves nothing more than spending time with his wife, Tara, and young son Cooper and cheering on his AFL team, the Collingwood Magpies!  He has a keen interest in golf course architecture and it is one of his lifelong dreams to venture into this and design a golf course in the future.
